Captains Call December 2017

Captains Call December 2017
by

Hi everyone and welcome to December’s edition of our Newsletter.

Well we have recently finished the Premier Event for 2017 our Aussie Big Ways Event at Moruya then at York with Doug Forth and what an amazing couple of weeks it was.

I attended17-11-24_9883 both Moruya and York as a Coach and it was just fantastic to see the enthusiasm, the discipline and the progression achieved throughout both Camps. The event was just as successful as our Premier Event for 2016 with Dan BC at Nagambie and it is simply an awesome testament to those planning, co-ordinating, and running, coaching or attending the Events – bloody well done!

Then at York with a group of 43 participants attending, whom on average were generally a less experienced Big Way group, we set a State Record of a 2 point 17 way – twice on the same day, so 34 participants now own that record and on the last jump of the day we had a completed 30 way which was a perfect way to end the Camp!17-12-03_0114

Now we are still waiting for one group’s potential 3 point 17 way jump to be judged [we simply ran out of time on that day to continue the judging efforts] – so there still maybe one more record announcement to come out of the York Event.

What a magic way to end of another big year for Aussie Big Ways, I have met and jumped with a whole new generation of awesome young jumpers at Moruya and York – both groups whom can skydive their butts off, and I am already looking forward to our main event for 2018 at Toogoolawah at the end of September 2018 with Larry Henderson ………………….bring it on!!

A big thanAPF Logoks of course to the massive APF and Fi Fund support to this event – and to Ferg’s and Peta Holmes and all the off site judge’s – yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Our Aussie Big Ways activities will slow down somewhat over the New Year and until after the APF Nationals and then pick back up to culminate in Toog’s late September 2018, and we will also continue to raise the performance bar incrementally for participants as we inch closer and closer to 2019.

Now I would like to publically acknowledge all of the enormous [and totally voluntary] hard work of our State Mentors, DZ representatives, helpers and supporters – in particular Tracey Basman our National Events Co-ordinator. Without these people’s efforts our events would be far less spectacular and much more expensive!!

Lastly I wish everyone a fantastic Christmas and New Year whatever you are up to and come back with recharged batteries ready for another awesome year of skydiving!
